Family photo session with the Meers!

Not too long ago we photographed Valerie for her senior portraits. Her mom, Goldie, decided she wanted family pictures and called us. The whole family showed up; Goldie, her husband, her son Nathan, her two daughters Valerie and Melanie, along with Melanie's husband James and their adorable daughter Victoria. Immediately I could tell that Victoria is the apple of everyone's eye. How could you resist those big blue eyes?

So, we ventured to City Park for some outdoor family pictures. It's been in the 50s lately and I couldn't be happier about this!

My favorite shot of the whole family.
   LOVE those blue eyes!
Just look at those two teeth:)

The women of the Meers family working it...

Valerie and Victoria had red matching shoes. Too cute!
And I'll leave you with a big baby smile:)

There will only be one December 2009. Remember to document these bright, fleeting moments in your life this year. There is no better time to schedule photos than this holiday season, when family members all gather together in one place in celebration of love, life, and blessings.

We would like to thank all of our wonderful clients for their business this year and in the future. Thank you for letting us document the special people and moments in your life. There is nothing in life we would rather do.

Senior Shoot with Valerie

A beautiful Colorado morning + an awesome model = photography bliss!

Check out our latest shoot with Valerie, a high school student in need of some senior portraits. We had a blast photographing Valerie. It helped that she is a beautiful sweetheart and totally photogenic. Here are some our love it! shots...

Denver Race for the Cure 2009

On Sunday, October 4th, we had the opportunity to work with the Susan G. Komen foundation in Denver by photographing the Race for the Cure downtown. The race was a 5k and formed the shape of the ribbon from an aerial perspective. Over 50,000 people participated, husbands, wives, grandmothers, sisters, friends....it was a beautiful day for a beautiful cause. We were very proud to be a part of it. Our photos are currently being used for the Komen Denver website. Click here to learn more about the global leader of the breast cancer movement.

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead and some come from behind.
But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see.
Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!

Go Mama Go Designs

We recently photographed products (plus children & parents) for Go Mama Go Designs. They offer really innovative, useful products for the mom or dad on the go.

The bag below is called the Chameleon. It converts into an area for your child to play on. Next, is the Daddy Caddy. It's small so there's no diaper bag to cart around but still holds diapers and wipes. We love the prints and the bright contrasting colors. These products make great baby shower gifts!

We are very excited because Go Mama Go Designs are currently available in stores such as Target, Kohl's, and very soon: Macy's, Babys'R'us, etc!

Family shoot with the Kahns!

Fall is finally here and the leaves are turning! This is our favorite season for outdoor photo shoots. Recently, we had the pleasure of photographing Dr. Kahn, his lovely wife Jill, and their dog Hannah. They were a wonderful couple to work with and their dog, Hannah, was sweet and playful. It was a gorgeous day and the photos turned out great!

(The video looks best if watched in HD. Music by Dave Matthews Band.)

Dr. Kahn is a very skilled and personable chiropractor
located in the northern Denver area.

Check out his website:

Testimonial from the Kahns and
Mile High Chiropractic Center:

One word: "WOW". Tess and Kimothy far exceeded
Dr. Kahn and my expectations. We needed family photos
and also wanted to use these pics in some brochures.

They exceeded our expectations from start to finish in the
following ways:

•They were so interpersonal in the up front bidding
process. Not only were their samples far superior to the
competition, they also responded quickly to our request
for information.

•They were very flexible in the location and times
(and even changed locations per my request last minute)

•Their artistic eye is unbelievable. We got so much more
from our session than we expected.

•Their customer service is great - they stayed longer at the shoot than initially planned (because they wanted to
capture the perfect shot)

Dr. Kahn and I will be using them again and again
in the future!

And as usual, we will end this post with a thoughtful,
hopefully inspiring quote of the week:

Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile.

Chicken Soup for the Photographer's Soul

As creative professionals, we have an affinity for continually scoping out new sources of inspiration that spark our imagination or just pull us in emotionally.

Today I'll just keep it simple and provide you with a few of our faves...

Brian Andreas - artist & storyteller
http://www.storypeople.com/storypeople/Home.do
I came across this guy's work as my mother and I traveled from Orlando, Florida to Madison, OH two years ago. We made a stop at a restaurant in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia (home to a lot of talented, unique artists) where Brian's work was on display. In short, his stuff is colorful, crazy imaginative, and whimsical with each image containing simple poetic truths about life, love, relationships.

Read below some of my favorites of his:

No Words
I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand & the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep & there are no words for that.

Real Reason

There are things you do because they feel right & they may make no sense & they may make no money & it may be the real reason we are here: to love each other & to eat each other's cooking & say it was good.

New City. New Opportunities.

Hello and welcome to our first ever blog post!! After relocating to Denver, Colorado, we decided that working for ourselves is the best option around. Photography is a shared passion of ours and we work the best when together, complimenting each other's creative perspectives and making each shoot run as smooth as possible. We created Love n Joy Photography to, well, capture the love and joy around us. (Cheesy, we know). Our lives are made up of precious fleeting moments. Why not try to capture some of these moments with beautiful, artistic photographs? Surround yourself with love and beauty! Remember the people you love, the good moments you've enjoyed, and those glimpses in time that draw you back to your past. That is our philosophy here at Love n Joy.

We've decided to act accordingly to the famous words of our beloved Dr. Seuss:

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose".
