CONGRATULATIONS to
Laura Hohman for a brilliant, themed photo shoot idea!
Laura's awesome idea:
Great Gatsby theme Croquet game with some good friends in the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Imagine- Floppy hats, suspenders, pin stripes, martinis in a very peculiar setting.
How did you know that one of our all time favorite books is The Great Gatsby?! AND we've been wanting to do a photo shoot at the Great Sand Dunes since we moved here!
So yes, the location is a bit far. But it is too good to pass up. It would definitely fit into the "exception" category...and this is not a shoot that is ideal for the winter months...BUT... we LOVE your creativity and we can share your vision with this one. The props and attire will be so elegant, prim, ethereal, dapper yet out of place and in stark contrast with the wild, rolling sand terrain. Oy vey. We cannot wait for this one. But we must. And we will. Because the photos will soooo be worth it, we promise :)
We'll post come the springtime/summertime upon the conclusion of this fabulous shoot.
Lastly, and importantly, we are so thankful to all of you who pitched your ideas to us and joined in on the fun. We heard so many great ideas from the comments and via email, that honestly, we want to do them all. And we want to encourage you to schedule these mostly winter-themed shoots with us because they are AWESOME!
That being said, if you left us a comment (or sent an email) about an idea for the contest shoot, we're giving you a ridiculously cool deal on it should you book it with us this winter. I mean, it's goooood. Please email us for details. Some of the shoots would take place at mountain resorts, so we've got to work out the deets with you personally.
We look forward to capturing all of this awesomeness and creating these memories for you guys. Thanks again for the ideas, ya'll. We're just so happy people are into the whole photography thing as much as we are!
It's only right to leave you with a poetic, visionary line from the masterpiece of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel:
"Daisy and Jordan lay upon an enormous couch, like silver idols weighing down their own white dresses against the singing breeze of the fans..."
(That last line seems to conjure up the perfect image of a scene of ladies lounging in a parlor from that era...)
or how bout this one...
"A phrase began to beat in my ears with a sort of heady excitement: 'There are only the pursued, the pursuing, the busy, and the tired."
Okay, I'm going to go re-read (<--is that a real word?) the Great Gatsby now...sigh. :)
xoxo,
Your Great Sand Dunes & Colorado Mountain Resort Photographers
